Durrës Historic City Tour
On this tour, we’ll explore the history of Durres, starting with the newest fort,
the Ottoman fortress from 1501.
We’ll begin at Torra Veneziane to learn about
the city’s seafront history. Then, we’ll see the ancient walls of Emperor Anastas in the Kala neighborhood. Along Epidamn Boulevard, we’ll see how the city developed, leading to the construction of the Port and City Square in the 1930s.
We’ll also visit religious buildings in the castle area, discussing their past and
present roles in the community. Finally, we’ll explore the Amphitheater of Durres, its surrounding houses, and the history of excavations there, from the earliest discoveries to current plans for research and preservation.

Through this tour, you’ll delve into the city’s history spanning from the 20th
century back to antiquity.
In questo tour esploreremo la storia di Durazzo, a partire dal forte più recente,
la fortezza ottomana del 1501. Inizieremo da Torra Veneziane per scoprire
la storia del lungomare della città. Poi, vedremo le antiche mura dell'imperatore Anastas nel quartiere Kala. Lungo Epidamn Boulevard, vedremo come si è sviluppata la città,portando alla costruzione del porto e della piazza della città negli anni '30.
Visiteremo anche gli edifici religiosi nell'area del castello, discutendo del loro ruolo passato e presente nella comunità. Infine, esploreremo l'Anfiteatro di Durazzo, le case circostanti e la storia degli scavi lì, dalle
prime scoperte agli attuali piani per la ricerca e la conservazione.
