6Days5Night tour to admire the rich cultures of the Bamilekes and the Bamouns .
The Bamilekes and the Bamouns are people of the West Region in Cameroon . They constitute the Grassfield cultural zones of Cameroon together with the North West Region. Here, you will admire places of beautiful greenery landscape, large agricultural plantations and the people are also highly noted for good works of arts in bronze, wood, bamboo, beads…..which could be seen in their numerous Royal museums, palaces and handicraft centers. This part of the Country usually organize impressive traditional festivals or initiation rites starting from the Month of November to April such as; the Nyang Nyang festival of the BAfoussam, the Ngoun festival of the Bafoussam, the Ngoun festival of foumban, the lemou initiation festival of the Bafou, the KOUNA festival of the foreke Dschang, the Kaing festival of the Baham , the Nou Ngoung initiation ritual of the Baleng and the NEKANG PE MUNGUM festival in Bamougoum.
DAY 1 : Breakfast and departure from Yaounde to Bafoussam and a stop over at the River Sanaga bridge to have a view of the sand extraction. Continuation at Makenene for leg stretching and light refreshment. Continuation and arrival in Bafoussam, hotel installation, rest and visit to the Bafoussam Royal palace whose entrance has statues of their ancestors and late chiefs, discover the local traditional huts constructed with the local materials and also having conical tops typically with most of the Bamileke habitats. We shall observe a traditional dance for our entertainment, return to hotel. Diner and night in hotel.
DAY 2: BAFOUSSAM-BANDJOUN-BAHAM-BAFOUSSAM.
This is a day specially devoted to know more about the Bamikekes traditions and customs by visiting the the impressive museums of Bandjoun and Baham Chiefdoms, visit of the sacred huts , hut of drums, the the place where new chiefs are initiated known as the the LA’AKAM... Return to Bafoussam , diner and night.
Day 3 : BAFOUSSAM-FOUMBAN-BAFOUSSAM..
Breakfast and departure for Foumban 72KM drive, to have an inside of the Bamoun arts and tradition, passing through Fombot and a stop over at a crater lake which is 8km from fombot town and continuation to Foumban to discover the famous Sultanat of Sultan Ibrahim Njoya who invented the shumum writing of the Bamoun people, the Bamum dynasty from Nchare Yen founder of the dynasty in 1394 to present , the royal palace, the impressive and mysterious Royal museum classified by Unesco as the greatest in the world and it is the world humanity Heritage, view of statues of old sultans, sacred huts, the Queen’s mother residence,the room of thrones, the hut of three great drums, visit to the handicraft center for shopping and back to Bafoussam, diner and night.
DAY 4: BAFOUSSAM-DSCHANG (45KM)
Breakfast in the morning and departure to Dschang , arrival and installation in the climatic center, visit to the Djutistsa tea estate in about 45mins drive and the Fongo Tongo mamy water fall, and a talk with the chief will edify you on the myth of the place and the sacred forest.Continuation to the Ndenvoh cave which served as a refuge to warriors during war and it is also a home for their sacred animals, return to Dschang for the night, and diner in climatic center.
DAY 5: CLIMATIC CENTER.
The entire day is spend at the center, swimming, tennis, entertainment by a traditional dance.
DAY 6 :DSHANG-YAOUNDE.
Breakfast, visit to the University of Dschang to discover the place where engineers of agronomy, forestry are trained in Cameroon amongst other professional discipline, continuation to the market, visit to the handicraft center and shopping, continuation to Yaounde and a stop over at the museum of civilizations ,visite , have a view of the municipal lake and finally departure to Yaounde arrival and end of tours. * Price for this tour include the following: Lodging, Feeding,Vehicle, toll, Admission tickets, traditional dance, Tour Leader, Local Guide, bottles of water. price does not include the following: International flight,Camera, Video Camera, Drinks, personal expenses and tips. *Let me know if you will be interested to experience any of the mentioned cultural events so I do a program that involves one of them for you.
