Explore the Cultural diversity of Cameroon in Eno -gastronomy and in Museums

Travel to discover and have a taste and sip of an authentic traditional culinary and wine experience in restaurants and in museums of the four main cultural zones in Cameroon which are; the Fang-Beti-Bulu , The SAWA, the Grass field and the Sudano-Sahelian .

Day 1: Visit to a specialized restaurant in Yaounde to discover and have a taste and sip of the delicacies and local wine of the Fang-Beti-bulu people of the forest zone of Cameroon which involves the Centre, South and East region of Cameroon the following local delicacies shall be put at your disposal:

Ndomba (fresh pond fish or bush meat cooked in leaves

Okok (Eru prepared with groundnut paste) or Sanga (vegetable prepared with fresh corn)

All the soup above shall be accompanied with either pounded ripe plantain, cassava, bobolo and local fresh palm wine. Later on,

visit to the Ethnographic museum of the forest people of Central Africa in general and of Cameroon in particular to discover the dressing style of the people,instruments for music, Female ornaments, weapons for war, wrestling, kitchen utensils, mystical snakes which is believed the indigenes used it to cross a river to the present site, local games of Abbia or Songho, beautiful natural garden, library of African works of art, shop in the museum for purchase of local craftworks.

It will please me to make you aware of the fact that the main presenter here shall be the founder of the museum Dr Fouda Therese who is not only an indigene but is also the sister of the first black Mayor to the Yaounde city council.

Day 2: Visit to a specialized restaurant in Yaounde of the grass field people (North-west and West Regions of Cameroon) to have a taste of their delicacies and a sip of their local drinks from maize called tscha . You shall be opportune to taste the following::

Fufu corn and Khati-Khati

Achu and yellow soup, or

Pounded Irish potatoes mixed with beans

Condre ( plantain cooked with palm oil, porc, fresh or dry meat or fish)

Here you shall accompany the meal with a sip of “Tscha” (corn drink) then,

Visit to the Blackitude museum which is a very interesting place to discover the inside of the strong customs, traditions and Royalty of the people of the Grassfield cultural zone express in works of arts, exhibition of the of the Fon’s/Chief siting room, various statues used for different rituals, the talking drum, It is interesting to note that, the main presenter here shall also be the founder of the museum, who is a Chief by name Her Majesty FONAB NANA SUNJIO Agnes.

Day 3: Visit to a specialized restaurant of the SAWA people (Douala, Bakwere, Bakossi, Mbo, Bassa….) to have a taste and sip of their delicacies and wine produced either from plantain or cassava. The following meals shall be at your disposal;

Ndole (bitter leaves,groundnut paste, mixed with prowns) and grilled fish

Mbongo Chiobi (A black soup made from local spices with porc or fresh fish) or

Koki (a pudding of small grain of white beans cooked in leaves)

Water fufu and Eru ( hard forest leaves and water leaves cooked with palm oil, crayfish, beef, smoked fish, and cow skin) and Epwang.

All the mentioned soup above, shall be accompanied with meniondo, cassava, ripe plantain. Then,

Visit to the Solomon Tadeng Muna foundation museum created by his family in honor of the Right Honorable Solomon Tandeng Muna who was the former Prime Minister of the West Cameroon and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Cameroon and former president of the National Assembly of Cameroon. The museum contains a collection of rare sculpture and works of arts which represents the African cultures, Historical and traditional wealth gotten from Central ,western and northern African countries.

Day 4: Visit to specialized restaurant which of the Sudano-Sahelian people (Adamawa, North and Far North region of Cameroon) to enjoy their special delicacies and have sip of their local drinks. So you shall have the following on your table:

Rice fufu, cassava fufu with Felere, Okro, kenenkenen .

A sip of Felere, baobao, Kosam-Dakare soft drinks . Then,

Visit to the National museum whose building itself is a very important historical monument. There, you will discover the insight of the 4 man cultural zones of Cameroon. Here you shall also be lucky to find photos of great heroes of Cameroon in terms of history, music and football

Visit to the International handicraft center or shopping in any chosen local shop for souvenirs. For this tour if you are alone then divide the price by four to have your cost. Thank you.

Optional activities:

To experience a traditional dance displayed by a dance group from one of the 4 cultural zones=€100

To participate and involve in any cooking classes of one of the local delicacies from any of the 4 cultural zones of your choice = €100

To have an experience in the production process of any of the local drinks as follow;

Felere = €50

Baobao = €100

Kosam + Dakere= €100

Tscha=€100

Palm wine =€100

Production of wine or gin from plantain= (€22O )

Production of Cassava wine =€220. *Price include the following : _Tasting of two to three different types of traditional dishes during each of the four days , -Sipping one locally produced wine or soft drink to accompany the daily meals for the four days, -Admission tickets into the Four museums, - Vehicle and fuel, - Tour leader, -Bottles of water. * Price does not include the following : - Lodging, International flight, Camera, Video Camera, personal expenses and tips.
