In eastern Nepal Halesi Mahadev temple is also known as Pashupatinath and for Buddhists it is equally important as Lumbini. As per myths, this cave is used by Mahadev to hide from Bhasmasur, a demon who misused his powers. Bhasmasur received boon from the Lord Mahadeva and he tried to burn Mahadev by placing his hand over Mahadeva’s head.
Lord Vishnu was the first devotee to pay homage to the Haleshi Mahadeva during Satya Yuga. It is a pilgrimage site from the ancient time. There will be thousands of pilgrimage during festivals like Shivaratri, Ram Navami, Ganesh Chaturthi.
The temple is at the top of a small hill inside a beautiful cave. It’s entrance is half moon shaped faced towards east. After entering the cave about 300 feet down there is flat space. Halesi Mahadev is two feet tall Shiva Linga inside the cave where you’ll find positive vibes. It is a beautiful and mysterious natural cave where may find bats flying. Inside the cave we can see idols of goddess Parvati, Laxmi Saraswoti, Durga Bhawani etc. Above the cave’s ceiling are lofty tips and from these tips, continuous white colored water drips over the Halesi Mahadev statue. You’ll see different shapes on the ceiling and walls of the cave.
Halesi Cave is 67 feet below the ground surface and lies at the top of hilly region between Sun Kosi and Dudh Koshi, two big rivers. It is located in the Khotang district 26 km west from Diktel Bazar, 3100 ft. – 4734 ft. above sea level. There are other numerous small caves too. It is 185 km south west of world highest peak Mount Everest.

Day 01: Arrival

Day 03: Halesi Mahadev to Kathmandu
Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival
We will be there to welcome you at the Tribhuwan international airport and assist you to transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Kathmandu.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Halesi
Halesi Temple tour starts at 05:00 a.m. from Kathmandu. The journey begins from Kathmandu to Araniko highway and then route of Sinduli Bardibas B.P Highway, Kathmandu – Dhulikhel – Nepalthok – Khurkot – Ghurmi – Okhaldhunga – Jayaram Ghat – Halesi Temple. On the way you’ll come across several beautiful landscapes, green hills and villages. It takes approximately 8 hours to reach and check-in at Hotel in Halesi.
You may walk around Halesi Bazaar and overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Halesi Temple visit and return to Kathmandu
Visit Halesi Mahadev Temple for worship/puja early in the morning. After worshiping we will have breakfast and return to Kathmandu.
