North of Amsterdam, much of the land was reclaimed in the 17th century by the typical Dutch windmills that pumped the water out the many lakes.
Now it is a special part of our country with diary cattle, old fishing villages, cheese farms and windmills.
On this tour we'll visit the windmills in Schermerhorn, the fishing village Monnickendam, cheese town Edam, De Rijp and the Beemsterr Polder, reclaimed in 1612 and on the Unesco World Heritage list.
